I didn’t think I’d be able to do any blog posts from my most recent trip as I thought I’d had my cabin baggage stolen, which contained my camera, back up disk ,laptop, and other equipment. A very stressful 3 weeks later I was informed that it was found at Gatwick airport! A 7 hour round trip ensued to retrieve it, but my relief and joy at getting it all back was immense. Here’s the first of a few posts about my American trip.
A first for me – a fabulous helicopter ride with the doors off !
The view just after taking off.
We flew near the Kennedy Space Centre.
I really liked the abstract shapes of the water and swampy ground.
It may take you a moment to work this one out! It’s hundreds of solar panels, and of course Florida is the ideal place for them. I don’t know why every house doesn’t have them – they really should take advantage of the sunlight there.
Back on the ground and on another day, I witnessed another rocket launch. This was the second one I’ve seen and the first was a night-time launch so that made a completely different photo.
Florida has many many beaches. Sometimes crowded, other times almost empty.
What image comes to mind when you think of surfers? I certainly think of guys with bleached long hair, and these two dudes very obligingly happened to stroll across the road in front of me. The pink board is nicely echoed by the pink of the building on the right.
Summer in Florida brings afternoon downpours. Just before that happens the white puffy clouds build and build, they get darker and the wind picks up. Then the rain buckets down. It’s not long afterwards however that the storm passes and there are blue skies again. Humidity levels go through the roof though making it feel very hot, hot, hot 🙁
So pleased to hear that you got your bag back in the end….nightmare! Amazing photos as always, although I am a tiny bit jealous that you got to see a launch, that’s on my bucket list!
Thanks Jeremy. It was a massive relief and I’m still sorting ‘stuff’ from the San Francisco theft – but that will be in another blog post!
Fabulous images Julie! I’m so glad your bag was returned, what a relief for you!
Thank you Karen!
